Equity Foundation was founded by Lynn and Bonita Justice. They both came from farm families that experienced the difficulties and challenges of poverty. They changed their life situation through education and thus became passionate about providing educational opportunities to lift people out of poverty.

They arrived in Guatemala in 1985 and became very involved in the education of children. They saw the effects on people’s lives when they can’t read or write. They also became aware of how families in poverty cannot afford basic necessities for their children to attend school and need the children at home to tend the crops and help the family survive.

Lynn and Bonita started Equity Foundation to provide scholarships for children living in poverty in Guatemala and Honduras. The financial support incentivizes the family to keep their child in school and covers the basic necessities for them to attend.
